I'm sorry but unfortunately I suppose he's neither happy nor at peace ...

I'm trying to give you some information about this (please excuse my mistakes, I'm not very practised in English):

Pope Francis has ordered him to return into his home-diocese - without any job, just as private person.
Now his 'boss' is archbishop Burger, the bishop of this diocese, who has to decide on him.

According to the numerous press reports, his relationship with Francis has gone worse during the last view years, finally he's fallen out of favour with him.
There were some episodes, he played a doubtful part in and the pope was not amused at,
among other things particularly the episode with the book by cardinal Sarah in January 2020 (here some information in German and in English), after that Francis suspended Gänswein from office,
and recently the episodes around the publication of his own book in January 2023 (Gänswein wrote his memoirs on Benedict and his time with him; titel: 'Nothing but the Truth') that caused a great stir.
And besides I think the pope found Gänswein lacking in humility.
So Georg now is feeling humiliated ...

Thank you for the information. I am trying to follow what is going on from the USA. There is not any information about Georg in the news here.

I read the article that you posted though, and that is what I tried to reply to. Georg has indeed been humiliated by all this. Maybe he did what his conscience dictated, and he stands by his actions. Who knows?!

With all that said, I hope he is at peace.

I wonder what the future holds for him.
